As of 2024, Gaza was the deadliest place on earth to be a child, and unfortunately, 2025 is likely to be equally deadly.

In just the first week of 2025, at least 74 children have reportedly lost their lives due to ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip. Tragically, children have been victims in several mass casualty events, including attacks in Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Al Mawasi – a designated ‘safe zone’ in the south with thousands of Palestinian refugees taking shelter there.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated drastically. Over a million children live in makeshift tents, facing harsh winter conditions without adequate shelter. Since December 26, eight infants and newborns have reportedly died from hypothermia, highlighting the severe risks posed by the cold weather.

The destruction of civilian infrastructure has left families struggling to access essential supplies, including food, safe water, sanitation, and healthcare. The few remaining operational hospitals are overwhelmed. Notably, Kamal Adwan Hospital, the only operational medical facility with a pediatric unit in northern Gaza, is no longer functional following a raid late last month, further exacerbating the dire conditions for medical care in the region.

The lack of basic shelter and winter temperatures pose serious threats to children. The humanitarian situation in Gaza has spiraled out of control. The number of aid trucks entering Gaza remains woefully insufficient to meet the most basic needs of families.

In these challenging times, IF Charity remains steadfast in its commitment to support the children and families of Gaza. Our colleagues on the ground are focused on providing essential aid, including food, medical supplies, and winter clothing, to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable.
