Fighting Hunger in Gaza – One meal at a time
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels, with the entire population facing severe food insecurity. Recent reports indicate that 22% of Gaza’s residents are experiencing catastrophic food shortages, and approximately 3,500 children are at risk of death due to malnutrition.
The same report stated that Gaza’s total population has fallen 6% since the current conflict began back in October 2023.
The ongoing conflict has exacerbated the food shortages in Gaza through the destruction of critical infrastructure, including bakeries, agricultural lands, and food warehouses. This devastation has severely disrupted the local food supply chain, making it increasingly difficult for families to access basic necessities.
In response to this dire situation, humanitarian organisations have intensified their efforts to provide relief. For example, last month, Turkish NGOs had successfully delivered over 240 trucks of supplies, including food, water, and hygiene kits, to support the people of Gaza. But this is a drop in the bucket for what is needed to supply Gaza’s 2.1 million people.
We should also note that while some aid trucks are getting through to Gaza, there still exist months-long queues at the Gaza borders controlled by Israeli and Egyptian governments. As recently as January 2025, UNFPA had 46 trucks with health and sanitary supplies “stalled at the border for months”.
At IF Charity, we are committed to alleviating hunger in Gaza by delivering essential food parcels to the most vulnerable families. Each food parcel, costing £50, contains staple items designed to sustain a family for an entire month. Your generous donation can immediately relieve those suffering from acute food shortages.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while his neighbour goes hungry.” In the spirit of this teaching, we urge you to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Gaza.
How You Can Help:
