Walk for Nakba: Honouring 77 Years, Walking for Justice

On Thursday 15th May 2025, mark the 77th anniversary of the Nakba – a pivotal and devastating event in Palestinian history – by joining Team IF in a powerful act of solidarity. Wherever you are in the world, we invite you to participate in our virtual Walk for Nakba Challenge. By dedicating 77 minutes to walking, we will collectively remember the past, stand in unity in the present, and walk with hope for a just future for the Palestinian people.
What is the Walk for Nakba?
The Walk for Nakba is a virtual event that allows individuals across the globe to participate in a meaningful act of remembrance and support. On Nakba Day, May 15th, we ask you to:
- Walk for 77 Minutes: Symbolically marking the 77 years since the Nakba.
- Walk Virtually: Choose your own time and location that suits you best. Walk in your neighbourhood, at a local park, or even on a treadmill – the choice is yours.
- Walk Solo or Together: Participate individually or gather your friends, family, and community to walk as a group.
- Represent Solidarity: Wear your kufiyahs, fly Palestinian flags or don any symbols that express your solidarity and unity with the Palestinian people.
- Track & Share: Use the Strava app to track your progress and share photos on social media using the hashtags #WalkforNakba77 and #IFCharityChallenges.
- Fundraise: Encourage your friends and family to sponsor your walk and help us reach our collective fundraising goal.
Track Your Steps:
We encourage you to track your 77-minute walk using the Strava app on your smartphone. Share a screenshot of your completed walk on social media and send across to us too to help amplify our collective action.
Our Fundraising Goal:
Every step you take can make a difference. We are asking each participant to aim to raise a minimum of £50 in vital funds for Emergency Aid. These funds will directly support Palestinians facing incredibly challenging conditions. Your generosity will help provide essential resources and hope.
